Cold War Colonialism: Anishinaabek Responses to Uranium Mining at Elliot Lake

In this talk, Lianne C. Leddy will discuss Serpent River First Nation’s resilience in confronting colonial extractive practices during the Cold War period. Leddy is the author of Serpent River Resurgence: Confronting Uranium at Elliot Lake, which tells the story of how the Serpent River Anishinaabek confronted the persistent forces of settler colonialism and the effects of uranium mining at Elliot Lake, Ontario.
