Reedpop’s announcement late yesterday that the 2020 edition of BookExpo America (BEA), scheduled to be held July 22-26 at the Javits Center in New York City, is officially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has forced Canada’s largest academic publisher, University of Toronto Press, to launch its new trade imprint, Aevo UTP, online.

UTP and Pippin announced today that the two companies have entered into an agreement for UTP to acquire the inventory and all contractual rights relating to the publishing lists of Pippin, a privately held company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. The acquisition is subject to completion of satisfactory due diligence, UTP Director approval, and other customary closing conditions. It is expected to close within 60 days.
