Here’s a round up of some UTP highlights for the month of February.
Gillian Roberts was awarded the International Council for Canadian Studies’ Pierre Savard Award for her book Prizing Literature:The Celebration and Circulation of National Culture.
First Peoples of Canada: Masterworks from the Canadian Museum of Civilization, by Jean-Luc Pilon and Nicholette Prince, was given an honourable mention for the Association of American Publishers’ PROSE Award, in the Art Exhibition category.
Donald Smith gave two talks based on his book Mississauga Portraits this month. He was at Curve Lake First Nation on February 10th, and, at the Waterloo Region Museum on February 24th. The Waterloo Region Record ran a feature profile of Smith’s project and preview of his talk on February 7th.
On February 12th, Benjamin Lefebvre launched The L.M. Montgomery Reader: A Life in Print at Ben McNally Books.
Jonathan Ball launched his book John Paiz’s Crime Wave at the Winnipeg Cinematheque on February 28. Ball discussed his project that same day with Global TV Winnipeg and The Winnipeg Free Press.
