Natural History of Canadian Mammals is a winner!

University of Toronto Press and The Canadian Museum of Nature joined forces to produce a visually stunning new volume that was widely heralded as the definitive guide to all 215 species of mammals in Canada shortly after it appeared last October. Author and biologist Donna Naughton’s The Natural History of Canadian Mammals recently received several major honours from the international publishing community as well.

The Book Industry Guild of New York recognized the outstanding design of The Natural History of Canadian Mammals by awarding it First Place in the Reference Category at the 27th Annual New York Book Show on April 9th, 2013.

Naughton’s book will be presented by the Association of American University Presses (AAUP) and 5 librarians from the University Press Books Committee as part of the “Best of the Best from the University Presses: Books You Should Know About” program at the American Library Association’s Annual Conference in Chicago on June 30, 2013.

Library Journal awarded The Natural History of Canadian Mammals Best Reference Work of 2012 in the Sciences category.

And it received an Honourable Mention at The Association of American Publishers PROSE Awards, in the category of Single Volume Reference/Science.

Naughton’s book continues to gain review coverage from international media outlets. The Guardian UK‘s Ian Paulsen, for instance, recently declared her guide to be “a MUST have for those with an interest in Canadian mammals!” Adding that “it will be useful in other parts of North America too.”
