Toronto, ON – March 12, 2026 – The University of Toronto Press (UTP), Canada’s largest university press and leading academic publisher, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Canada Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Research Network (CanFASD) for publication of the Journal of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (JFASD), the only peer-reviewed publication dedicated exclusively to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research, policy, and practice.
The Canada Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Research Network is a collaborative, interdisciplinary research network, with allies, researchers and partners across the nation. It is Canada’s first comprehensive national Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research network. Its mission is to produce and sustain national collaborative research focusing primarily on the critical areas of prevention, intervention and diagnosis.
This strategic partnership brings together two organizations with a shared commitment to the dissemination of evidence-based research and clinical knowledge in the field of FASD. This initiative will facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and policymakers as well as expand access to high-quality research.
In celebration of the collaboration, article processing charges will be waived for 1-year for members of CanFASD. Together, UTP and CanFASD aim to strengthen the academic discourse surrounding FASD and foster evidence-informed approaches to care and prevention.
About FASD:
FASD stands for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. It is a lifelong disability that affects the brain and body of people who were exposed to alcohol in the womb. Each person with FASD has both strengths and challenges and will need special supports to help them succeed with many different parts of their daily lives. Find out more about the disability on the CanFASD website.
